Veteran Ottawa Liberal MP Mac Harb confirmed yesterday he'll join the race to replace Liberal party president Stephen LeDrew and will make it official May 23.

"Whatever the prime minister asks me to do, I do — not because I'm a yes-man, but because I trust his judgment," Harb said.

Two longtime Liberal activists are also expected to run, including Toronto-based Akaash Maharaj, who chairs the party's standing committee on policy development, and Greg Ashley, a Manitoba businessman and former Sheila Copps staffer.

The vote will take place November 15.
